The luxury option

Kerastase Soothing Scrub

Coming with a hefty RRP of £43 for 250ml, Kerastase Soothing Scrub is well worth the investment if you can justify it.

This alternative to shampoo is a lightweight gel which has been specially formulated to provide a luxury treatment for people suffering from a dry, sensitive scalp. The formula stimulates microcirculation, promotes skin renewal and unclogs pores to help make your scalp the healthiest it’s ever been.

As well as going further than your average shampoo to promote a clean, healthy scalp; all of which helps combat dandruff, the Kerastase Soothing Scrub’s special formula makes your scalp softer and more hydrated than you ever thought possible.

Using it just once a week will have an amazing impact on the health of your hair and scalp -you’ll soon wonder how you ever lived without it!

Philip Kingsley Itchy Flaky Scalp Shampoo

Philip Kingsley’s team of Trichologists originally developed this shampoo for the legendary actor Sir Laurence Olivier. And he was obviously only satisfied with the very best, because the original formula which cured his dandruff woes is still the best traditional anti-dandruff shampoo on the market.

Perfect for daily use, this colour-protective shampoo (a rare thing in the anti-dandruff shampoo world!) contains ingredients such as Lauryl Betaine and Piroctone Olamine, which work together to cleanse without redness or irritation while stopping flakiness and itching.

While a lot of anti-dandruff shampoos are too harsh to recommend for daily use, this is a rare exception. It won’t strip your colour or dry your hair out and works to treat the underlying cause of your dandruff, rather than just focusing on stripping the flakes, leaving you with an incredibly healthy scalp and flake-free hair.

Mid-range shampoo

KMS Head Remedy Anti-Dandruff Shampoo.

Created specifically to help anyone suffering from a dry, itchy, sensitive scalp, KMS Head Remedy Anti-Dandruff Shampoo works for all hair types and is a great alternative if your budget won’t stretch to Philip Kingsley’s offering.

This shampoo uses an anti-dandruff agent called Zinc Pyrithione which supports internal reconstruction of your hair and evens out its surface while reducing the flaking associated with dandruff. Using this shampoo 2-3 times a week will keep your dandruff under control and give you a much healthier, dandruff-free scalp in no time.

The budget option

Alpecin Dandruff Killer Shampoo

Alpecin Dandruff Killer Shampoo

The best budget anti-dandruff shampoo around. Alpecin’s aggressively-named Dandruff Killer Shampoo consists of four active ingredients designed to reduce your existing dandruff while treating yeast, fungi and bacteria responsible for producing dandruff.

Although they say it’s designed to be used every day I would suggest limiting it to a handful of times a week and treating yourself to a moisturising mask once a week if possible – this will reduce the chance of your hair drying out while still keeping your dandruff at bay. Alternate with a colour protect shampoo if you dye your hair for complete protection.

However you decide to use it, you can be confident this shampoo will quickly get your dandruff problem under control.
